Just passing….

Variety is the name of the game. I went to visit some old friends and ended up cleaning out the gutters! Now this isn’t normally my kind of thing, but it was oddly satisfying and after all that rain, was well needed. Anyway, it was good to be of help….

British weather!

Whoa! It is vile out there. After a day of intensive skirting board action (See my tweets @CamPropertyDoc https://twitter.com/campropertydoc/status/1137780941991096320?s=21

I am now working hard on my SEO. Linking all my social media accounts is an interesting exercise in Google and trial&error….!

I think it is slowly coming together, I use a number of Google and Bing searches to track how things are improving. Good progress at the moment with Bing, not so good with Google. Still I got it working well for Concierge Repairs, so as the ancient Chinese book of wisdom says ‘perseverance furthers’….

Why employ a handyman?

Ok, so I am going to be a little biased, but most handyman/women, will have spent years doing all those jobs for themselves before realising that there are a whole bunch of people out there who don’t have the skills or time to do those little (or big) jobs around the home.

Suddenly there is the chance to use your hard won skills to help others and make a little money.

Your average handyman will be capable of a huge range of jobs, but will also know where their limits are. Few will be suitably qualified to undertake major electrical work. Plumbing might also be off limits as there is often a restriction on liability insurance.

Give your local handyman a list of jobs and you will keep him happy for the day working their way to the end.

If you have a list of jobs and need a free quote to complete the work, call me on 0791 702 4469 or click the link to my website Cambridge Property Doctor for more ways to contact me.

New window sill.

I needed to replace some window sills, fairly straightforward, the trick (as is so often the case) measure, measure then think before making the cuts. It can be so easy to forget which bits need to be removed and which need to be kept!

Working from the back of the new sill, I roughly marked out the final layout including how much to take off the back of the new board, then went to work carefully marking out according to the measurements of the window opening. I was pleased with the final fit (even though the windows had been fitted slightly at an angle.

Doors

Door trimming, it seems to be ‘doors all the way’ recently! Everyone seems to be getting new carpets laid which then means the doors no longer swing easily. Generally this is an easy fix. A few passes with a power plane and those door marks on your new carpets are a thing of the past. Using the right combination of tools and powerful dust collection makes for a quick and clean operation.
